Due to AFL scheduling, The Footy Show will air tonight on Nine, but follows the State of Origin match with a late start of 10pm.

That’s a late time for the show to be kicking off discussion about the events of this week surrounding comments on Caroline Wilson, including by presenter Jame Brayshaw (he has since apologised).

There will presumably also be attention on Rebecca Maddern given the gender issues involved.

Hosts James Brayshaw and Rebecca Maddern are joined by panellists Dan Hannebery (Sydney Swans) and Steven Motlop (Geelong Cats), with Hawthorn coach Alastair Clarkson in the studio for an interview.

It has had the whole AFL world talking this week, and The Footy Show stars will share their thoughts on those comments made about Caroline Wilson.

Also on the panel is funnyman Dave Hughes. He joins Swans electric midfielder Dan Hannebery, who has a well-earned break this week and will shed light on how his team plans to stay hungry and focused for the grand final in September.

After his year-best kicking performance last weekend, Cats forward Steven Motlop will talk about Geelong’s winning streak as they prepare to extend it against the Saints.

After Hawthorn knocked off the ladder-topping Roos, the panel will be keen to ask supercoach Alastair Clarkson how he plans to get his Hawks to their fifth premiership since 2008.

Geelong great Sam Newman shares his thoughts on the Brad Scott umpiring saga, and faces the music after slagging off Bacchus Marsh. Has this affected his run for Melbourne Mayor, which strangely enough has been gathering quite a bit of momentum?

Plus, the controversial Footy Show Stakes are in full flight, as are some of the marks in Almost Footy Legends.

For the biggest and latest news in the AFL watch The Footy Show, tonight after the State of Origin game on Channel Nine.

  1. This will be as live as Footy Classified generally is (not at all).
As much as I hate to say it about a live Australian show, its time this old chestnut was put out to pasture never to be seen or heard of ever again.

  2. I assume lawyers will look at the script to make sure the t’s are crossed and the i’s dotted and Dave Hughes who I assume will be told to tone it down if you know what I mean, lol what a fiasco everyone wants to say something ……

    1. Maybe they could’ve had an earlier airing on gem and then a later airing after origin on 9 like they have done at times for footy classified.

Could you really take a gender debate on the footy show seriously?
