Top Gear USA has been cancelled by the History channel.

Presenter Rutlege Wood announced on Facebook, “I’m not saying Top Gear is done, but it’s done for the immediate future on History.”

Wood described co-presenters Adam Ferrara and Tanner Foust as “like brothers to me” and described working on the show as “a total dream come true”.

“The three of us will stick together and hope to bring you much more Top Gear USA, albeit somewhere else,” he said.

Top Gear USA has been running since 2010 following adaptations in Australia, Russia and subsequently South Korea, China and France.

A spokesperson for BBC Worldwide North America said: “We are fully committed to the hugely successful Top Gear brand – known all over the world – and have begun exploring new opportunities for the series in the US.”

Meanwhile the rebooted UK version continues to attract commentary with speculation Matt Le Blanc may not return. The BBC has neither confirmed nor denied.

  1. Top Gear USA was the most successful of all the localised versions by the sounds of it…the Australian exercise was pretty shocking both in execution and talent.
Same as local Grand Designs, ( though comparing Kevin McCloud with Peter Maddisson is very unfair ) , but whoever writes the appalling voice over that Peter delivers should really get their head out of the thesaurus and stop trying to be a wanker.

  2. This is a well produced series, a great watch with the camaraderie of the hosts so obvious and much much better then the current UK version, bring it back soon. New Season starts on Knowledge in July.
