Australian writer Louise Fox (Glitch, The Kettering Incident, Broadchurch) will next write a project for BBC America.

She will pen Trip, described as ‘a thrilling reimagining of the classic Chinese novel, Monkey: Journey to the West, which explores the journey of reincarnation. ‘

See-Saw Films (Top of the Lake, The King’s Speech) is set to produce.

Last year she told TV Tonight, “I didn’t start off in genre at all, genre found me. I was total Relationship Drama writer and that was my universe, and I was quite suspicious of genre, I guess. Then I started to watch it and loved it. The stakes are so big and the stories are massive and it actually elevates everything.

“It’s just such a brilliant playground. So now, I’m like, “Bring it on, any genre!’”

BBC America has also announced a reboot of Quatermass, the British series that follows Professor Bernard Quatermass and his daughter, Sarah, as they investigate an alien invasion, plus Zero Motivation, a comedic glimpse into the Israeli army through the eyes of an eclectic cast of young women, executive produced by Amy Poehler and Brooke Posch.
