Australian rapper Iggy Azalea is joining the judging panel of The X Factor.
She is the first judge announced for the 2016 Seven talent series.
“I understand what it’s like to have giant dreams and intend to help other young Australians achieve theirs by sharing my knowledge and developing their talent in collaboration with The X Factor,” says Iggy.
Brad Lyons, Channel Seven’s Director of Production, says “The X Factor is bringing Iggy home to Australia. Nobody knows what it takes to break through in today’s industry better than her. With such international success at only 26, our contestants have the chance to be mentored by the best in the business.”
With the hiring of 26 year old Azalea, Seven appears to be skewing to show to a younger audience, following some comment last year the judges had an older demographic.
But the show also appears to be a shorter season this year, with Azalea tweeting about Live X Factor shows in November.

Other judges, and presumably a new host, are set to be revealed soon.

How does an artist who has only had one album released become a judge on this type of show?
That should help with her credibility issues ?!?!?
I wonder which accent she’ll be talking in…
That doesn’t really make sense. How can she only be there for one week at end of June and then 4 weeks in November?
There is all the bootcamp process or whatever that happens. That and auditions for the judges can not all happen within one week. Auditions for the judges alone usually take 2 or 3 weeks I thought. Then for her to think the live shows in November just for 4 weeks? That doesn’t seem to make sense either. I don’t recall 12 contestants being lopped down to the winner in 4 weeks? Really if 7 is seriously somehow working the show that way they shouldn’t bother. It’s like they’re putting it on to try and get rid of it asap.
I’ve never heard of her
Look her up on youtube. She performed her hit ‘Fancy’ on Dancing With the Stars in the US.
Why not search it on Wikipedia?
Me either. But then X Factor isn’t about music anyway.
When did Iggy Azalea become a singer? Yes she is a rapper but how does that qualify her to mentor singers through the competition?
When did Kyle Sandilands, Simon Cowell or Sharon Osbourne become singers? This argument should’ve died with Australian Idol.
