MasterChef pips The Voice, HYBPA? on a high.

Ratings: Bumper figures for TEN's comedy quiz. Nine wins Monday night.

Last night MasterChef Australia beat The Voice for the first time this year.

TEN’s cooking show averaged 1.09m viewers with a marathon edition of Nine’s singing show at 1.06m viewers. MasterChef also dominated in the demos and lifted significantly in its final quarter hour -possibly as viewers tuned in for Have You Been Paying Attention? at 790,000.

Seven News topped the night for Seven while the first of two 20th Anniversary editions of Australian Story lifted for ABC on 758,000 viewers.

But the night went to Nine network with a 27.9% share then Seven 23.7%, TEN 21.6%, ABC 20.8% and SBS 6.0%.

Nine News was best for Nine with 1.16m / 1.13m and The Voice drew 1.06m. A Current Affair was 938,000 in official numbers but die to a coding error will be adjusted to 1.01m, then Hot Seat (695,000) and Hughes the Boss? (508,000). Footy Classified was 156,000 in 3 cities. Soundbreaking was 126,000.

Seven News was #1 with 1.28m / 1.08m for Seven followed by House Rules (872,000), Home and Away (741,000), The Chase (710,000 / 469,000) and Criminal Minds: Beyond Borders (463,000 / 352,000).

MasterChef ruled with 1.09m for TEN. Have You Been Paying Attention? was 790,000, The Project was 735,000 / 524,000, TEN Eyewitness News was 604,000, and NCIS: New Orleans was 253,000.

ABC News (954,000), Australian Story (758,000), 7:30 (743,000), Q&A (691,000), Media Watch (681,000) and Four Corners (675,000) comprised ABC’s Monday.

On SBS it was Ireland with Simon Reeve (258,000), Michael Mosley: Trust Me I’m a Doctor (253,000) and SBS World News (153,000). Lockerbie: My Brother’s Bomber was 91,000.

Peppa Pig led multichannels with 245,000.

Today: 343,000
ABC News Breakfast: 104,000 / 43,000

  1. I hope Channel Nine don’t schedule a mammoth session of The Voice like that again in the near future. It was way, way too long – only so much “The person I’m going to take through to the lives is…” and then cut to an ad break I can stand.

  2. I watched the Voice for one hour last night then turned it off to watch Game of Thrones. They certainly drag The Voice out to ridiculous lengths

  3. Well done master chef great to see it beat the voice .whats with the marathon session of the voice.those poor souls who had to edure that pain. Great to see sunrise thump todayin the ratings . .the sunrise concert in the park at parramatta today was excellent .bring back the power weeks too.

  4. The Voice was ridiculously long last night, running from 7.35 to around 10 pm. Seems many did not stay the distance.
    Surely the current battles could have been split into two shows.
