Neck and neck as Shark Tank rises

Ratings: It was a tight battle between Shark Tank & The Chaser. Nine wins Wednesday.

There wasn’t much change between three primary channels last night, with just 0.7% difference between them.

Seven News won the news hour then A Current Affair, before MasterChef Australia took the lead. By the 9pm mark things were neck and neck between Shark Tank -with its best audience in a year- and The Chaser.

Nine’s 60 Minutes special was second in its slot but lower than figures for The Hunt a week earlier.

Nine network still won with 26.5% then Seven 25.5%, TEN 22.5%, ABC 18.5% and SBS 6.9%.

Nine News (1.05m / 1.05m) was best for Nine then A Current Affair (965,000), 60 Minutes special (677,000) and Hot Seat (617,000). The Footy Show was 221,000 in 2 cities. Movie: Mr. & Mrs. Smith was 158,000 in 3 cities.

Seven News (1.08m / 1.02m) was #1 for Seven then Home and Away (764,000), The Chase (673,000 / 441,000), Highway Patrol (625,000) and Criminal Minds (518,000 / 441,000).

MasterChef Australia (1.06m) led for TEN. Shark Tank was 700,000, The Project was 635,000 / 450,000, TEN Eyewitness News was 520,000 and Hawaii Five-0 was 195,000.

ABC News (810,000), The Chaser’s Election Desk (691,000), Shaun Micallef’s Mad as Hell (682,000), 7:30 (642,000), QI (524,000) and Would I Lie to You? (431,000) made up ABC’s Wednesday.

On SBS it was 24 Hours in Emergency (266,000), Dan Snow’s History of Railways (218,000), Bosch (159,000) and SBS World News (152,000).

Peter Rabbit hopped to the top of multichannels with 267,000.

Sunrise: 302,000
ABC News Breakfast: 103,000 / 40,000.

  1. The Chasers segment of Craig Reucassel running through traffic to get Bill Shorten to name Labor’s 100 positive policies was hilarious. But the newbies have still yet to warm to me, I prefer the original Chaser crew

    Turned out to be a very competitive night (share wise).

    Although MasterChef dominated 7:30-8:30pm (over repeats of Highway Patrol & late notice 60 Minutes special)…

  3. Hawaii Five 0 has never gained any traction here in Australia – the numbers show it is definitely more suited to the 10.30pm timeslot. Doing even worse than Good Wife did in that slot.
