12 full hours of grand opera? It has to be Wagner.
Next month Foxtel Arts will screen 2016 Bayreuth Festival: Wagner’s Ring Cycle to screen across 12 hours, just a week after its Euro-broadcast.
The Ring Cycle is a series of four operas written by Wagner, forming one mammoth 12 hour story. The 2016 Bayreuth Festival highlight is the cycle, which is broadcasting live throughout respective Arts channels in Europe. Foxtel Arts are receiving the footage within a week of European TX and will also receive extra footage including one-on-one interviews, introductions by Stephen Fry and red carpet-esque content featuring Angela Merkel and other extremely esteemed guests. The entire four operas will play back to back to back-to-back.
