Coup soldiers enter CNN Turk studios

Anchors at CNN Türk were forced off air yesterday during a botched coup, as the broadcaster turned to Facebook.

CNN Türk was forced to halt its coverage of the coup in Turkey after soldiers entered the studio yesterday.

But its Facebook live feed was still running and viewers could see some of what transpired.

A group of soldiers landed at the Dogan Media Center, where the studios of CNN Türk are located, and entered the studio, forcing anchors out of their chairs and workers out of the building. The station was providing updates via its Twitter feed. Journalists resisted, and several people were heard screaming on air. Gunshots could also be heard.

CNN Turk editor in chief, Ferhat Boratav, told CNN’s Anderson Cooper what happened when soldiers entered their studios and forced the anchors off the air.
