Industry execs, politicians and media gathered in Sydney this week to farewell Free TV Australia CEO Julie Flynn, after 15 years championing commercial Free to Air networks.

In attendance were Seven CEO Tim Worner, Nine’s Hugh Marks, TEN’s Paul Anderson, former Seven boss David Leckie, Southern Cross’s Grant Blackley and Free TV chairman Harold Mitchell.

Tony Abbott praised Flynn’s work while there were video tributes from Malcolm Turnbull, John Howard, Kerry Stokes, Kim Williams and John Hartigan.

Since 2001, Flynn has been a staunch advocate of Free to Air networks, addressing issues including licence-fee reductions, advertising, anti-siphoning, and seen off five Australian PMs and seven Communications ministers.

A new Free TV CEO has not yet been appointed.
