An interview with David Leckie in today’s Australian appears to be an open invitation for job prospects ahead of his departure from Seven after 13 years.
Determined to begin a new chapter, he is open to new opportunities in television, radio, entertainment, sport, talent and advertising.
“Talks with Seven have been going on for quite a while, but it’s been in very good spirits because I like Kerry Stokes, and always will,” he said.
“The plan was that unless Kerry and I could somehow work out something, I was going to go at the end of my contract. I’m ready and raring to go, and I’m open for business. And the business is this: I’m giving it a dead-set crack. I love what I do. I don’t want to kick it while I’m still healthy.”
Leckie, 65, has been a consultant to Seven for the last 4 years. He told the newspaper he had been on a health regime with a personal trainer and was selling property to downsize.
“The whole deal was to get healthy, and then I can go for another job.”

Yeah I reckon Leckie’s got a few more shots in his locker …I’d reckon he’d get together some of the tried and true talent that helped him turn around Seven’s fortunes a decade or so back.
Go Leckie and kick some arse ! Nine could do well to sack half its middle management and hand over to Leckie for 12 months…seriously. Hugh Marks – obviously a capable executive – does not have the hand to hand combat experience of decades of warfare that Leckie has up his sleeve.
Yes he’s 65 and we need to groom a new gen of tv executive but I have much respect for this man. Would love to see him take the reigns of Ten and turn it into a powerhouse
