Commercial TV programmers Andrew Backwell (Nine), Angus Ross (Seven) and Beverley McGarvey (TEN) have spoken with News Corp about some of their various hits, misses and shows that got away.

These are similar to those I’ve posed in the past during annual Programmer Wraps, but include some new titles.

Here’s a quick summary:

Hits:

Andrew Backwell: Love Child, Married at First Sight
Angus Ross: Downton Abbey, The X Factor
Beverley McGarvey: The Bachelor, Have You Been Paying Attention?

Misses:

Andrew Backwell: The Briefcase
Angus Ross: Mesmerised, Australia Versus
Beverley McGarvey: Yasmin’s Getting Married

Ones that Got Away:

Andrew Backwell: Desperate Housewives, Lost, Prison Break
Angus Ross: CSI, The Big Bang Theory, The Simpsons, and Ramsay’s Kitchen Nightmares

  1. Yasmin’s Getting Married was ten years ago… if that’s the only “flop” that Ten can identify from the last ten years then they’ve got some serious blinkers on. The network has been through breakfast shows, reality renovation shows, reality dance shows, reality soaps (e.g. The Shire) and some forgotten dramas… but Yasmin is the one that gets the gong?
