Wednesday’s final State of Origin match will feature a halftime performance by The Voice winner Alfie Arcuri, the National Anthem sung by David Campbell and a light & pyrotechnic display.

Blues captain Paul Gallen will be honoured with a video tribute package prior to his final State of Origin match.

A new look VB NSW Blues team featuring the debut of excitement machine James Tedesco and dangerous young forward Wade Graham will add fresh life into State of Origin when they try to prevent a XXXX Queensland Maroons whitewash-this Wednesday at 7.30pm on Channel Nine.

The voice of rugby league, Ray “Rabs” Warren, will call all the action from the Nine Network commentary box at ANZ Stadium alongside Peter Sterling, Phil Gould and Paul Vautin.

Yvonne Sampson will host Nine’s exclusively Liveand Free State of Origin Game III coverage, flanked by Rugby League Immortals Andrew “Joey” Johns and Wally “The King” Lewis, Origin legends Darren Lockyer and Brad Fittler, as well as Brett Finch and injured Queensland fullback, Billy Slater.

Andrew Johns explained what the Blues must do to win.

“As the last decade has proven, you cannot break down Queensland’s defence with set plays. Having players who can play ad-lib football, such as James Tedesco and Jack Bird, is a huge plus and we will need them to identify opportunities on the run like they do at club level to take advantage of attacking opportunities.

“It is vital that players push up in support for the big and skilful forwards, Andrew Fifita and Tyson Frizell, who create attacking opportunities with offloads.”

North of the border, Maroons legend Darren Lockyer said Queensland will have to overcome a fired-up Blues forward pack to claim the series 3-nil and add another successful chapter to what has been dominant decade for the Maroons.

“If the Maroons can withstand the early onslaught from the Blues forwards, who are hurting after having their pride dented in games one and two, they will be able to find an edge psychologically.

“Once the early battle of the heavyweights is over up front it will be down to the class of the halves on either side and the Maroons have a distinct advantage with Johnathan Thurston and Cooper Cronk.”

  1. It is sickening how Gallen is so celebrated. Over the last few years he has:
    – racially abused another player
    – been suspended for the use of performance enhancing drugs
    – abused the NRL on Twitter including obscene language
    …….. the list sadly goes on

    Not to mention his appalling won/loss record as captain.

    I won’t be watching.
