Nine News reporter Christine Ahern has told of a brush with crime whilst walking along Copacabana beach in Rio.
Ahern and her cameraman were approached by a group of potential muggers, dressed in trans attire, who were reportedly eyeing the camera equipment.
“One came straight for my cameraman Glen and that’s when security intervened, but he did get clocked on the head with a handbag, which had a brick or something in it as it was pretty hard,” she told 3AW.
The security guard was not seriously hurt.
“He’s very experienced, he turned to me and said, ‘It’s been a while since I’ve been clobbered by a woman’s handbag,’” she said.
Earlier this week, New Zealand Jiu-Jitsu competitor Jason Lee said he was kidnapped by men in police uniform before being forced to withdraw cash from teller machines.
He was later released, News Corp reports.

This is what happens when you delay Love Island!
In all likelihood, Nine were the ones who kidnapped the jiujitsu competitor too if history is anything to go by.
Don’t believe anything nine tells me. Just a publicity stunt “look at us in the warzone”
Attacked by cross dressers in Rio!!! How on earth is anyone going to out do that one?!!?
