USA network has delayed the premiere of its new drama series Shooter following last week’s killings in Dallas.
Based on the 2007 film of the same name starring Mark Wahlberg, the series stars Ryan Phillippe as a military veteran and sniper wrongly accused of a crime and trying to clear his name.
A spokesperson for the cable channel said, “In light of recent tragic events and out of respect for the victims, their families and our viewers, we have decided to postpone the premiere date for the upcoming USA Network series Shooter to July 26.”
Last week five police officers in Dallas were killed by a sniper and eight others injured.
Shooter does not yet have an Australian broadcaster.

This has been delayed further, now with no new release date.
If it’s delayed for every shooting in the US it will never air.
It never fails to amuse and yet saddens me that the Americans think taking this action is their solution to preventing mass shootings.
This has happened so many times with shows postponed for a whole week when real life events happened, even Doctor Who changed some scenes when that solider was beheaded in London. Also I remember years ago a Buffy ep being postponed because of a school shooting.
All this will do is draw more attention on the show and maybe more viewers when it airs.
