Comedy Central has axed Larry Wilmore’s The Nightly Show after just a year because it hasn’t clicked with viewers.
Comedy Central president Kent Alterman told the New York Times, “Even though we’ve given it a year and a half, we’ve been hoping against hope that it would start to click with our audience, but it hasn’t happened and we’ve haven’t seen evidence of it happening.”
In a statement Wilmore said, “I’m really grateful to Comedy Central, Jon Stewart, and our fans to have had this opportunity.
“But I’m also saddened and surprised we won’t be covering this crazy election or ‘The Unblackening’ as we’ve coined it. And keeping it 100, I guess I hadn’t counted on ‘The Unblackening’ happening to my time slot as well.”

His schtick got old quickly and I struggled to watch. Does every joke need to be about race? The anti intellectualism got annoying too. Watch the debate with Bill Nye about finding water on mars – that’s when I gave up.
Anyone would struggle to follow Jon Stewart. But comedy is always personal what someone likes another hates.
Wilmore was the replacement for Stephen Colbert,Stewart’s replacement Trevor Noah seems to be travelling ok.Mind you Colbert was even a harder act to follow.
