Nine’s experiment with The NRL Footy Show on Wednesdays in Sydney and Brissy is over.
Next week it is screening at 9:40pm on Thursday, following a Live NRL match.
On Wednesday Nine has RBT at 7:30pm followed by the Movie: Skyfall.
NRL Footy Show on Wednesday pulled modest figures for Nine, and was a huge disruptor to other states, with Nine unable to screen profile content nationally. ‘AFL states’ were instead lumbered with movie reruns and lightweight lifestyle titles.
But producers managed to put a positive spin on things.
“We are thrilled to be ‘coming home’ to Thursday nights as we make the run into one of the most exciting finals series in memory. I’m sure our fantastic and loyal viewers will be just as excited,” Executive Producer Glenn Pallister said.
Meanwhile the show has announced it will adopt a carnival theme for the Grand Final Footy Show under the “Big Top” at North Sydney Oval on Thursday, September 29.
Both Grand Final teams, illusionist Cosentino, Bliss N Eso will all appear.

Best move of a program all year. It will rate much better on a Thurs in Syd/Bris anyway and give non-NRL states a chance to show something better then???
They’re finally doing what we’ve all said all year – air the NRL Footy Show on Thursday night after the NRL game (or at 9.30 like the old days in those few weeks there is not an NRL game on.
My thoughts on NRL Footy Show is that airing on Wednesdays is a waste of time. Should stick to Thursdays instead.
I guess that means the Thursday night game will have a stricter end time then? Not unusual for it to still be going after 10pm
If it wasn’t in the contract with NRL to have this show on air, nine could play more news in that time slot.
News??….plenty of news 24/7 …ABC News 24…and pay TV…
