Bumper Olympics ratings week

As expected Seven’s Olympics coverage has dominated the week, with a huge weekly share.

Seven: 41.2
Nine: 21.4
ABC: 16.0
TEN: 15.7
SBS: 5.6

Primary channel:
Seven: 28.1
Nine: 14.1
ABC: 11.5
TEN: 10.4
SBS: 4.0

7TWO: 6.2
7mate: 5.0
GO!: 3.1
ONE: 3.0
ABC2: 2.9
9Life / Gem: 2.1
7flix: 1.9
ABC News 24: 1.0
SBS 2 / SBS Food Network: 0.7
ABC3: 0.6
NITV: 0.2

Seven took all 3 demos 16-39, 18-49 and 25-54.

Seven won every night of the week. ABC bettered TEN on Sunday, Monday and Saturday.

Top show of the week was Seven News (Sun: 1.63m). Outside of the Rio Olympics (Day 1: In Rio Today : 1,33m) the other stand-outs for the week were Nine News (Sun: 1.28m), 60 Minutes (1.01m), Gruen (870,000) and The Bachelor (Wed: 858,000).

Trying to compare the numbers with London 2012 is treacherous, due to big changes in TV fragmentation, a triple-channel playout and timezone differences.

But for the record¬†Nine’s first week drew a 42.2% share with¬†37.8% on its primary channel.

While last week falls within official survey, it is tradition to remove 2 Olympic weeks from annual results.
