Happy Valley creator Sally Wainwright has confirmed her desire for a third season, but not immediately.

Speaking recently at the Edinburgh Television Festival, she said, “It will happen but it will be a little while. I have got some good ideas.”

RED Productions founder Nicola Shindler has previously said, “Everyone’s committed to it and is happy to do it. But it depends on the stories from Sally, when she’s ready to write it and we won’t move forward with it until she’s [ready].”

Reports suggest 2018 before we’ll see new episodes.

In the meantime Wainwright has plans for a small screen musical.

“It’s on the way. It’s an idea I have got for the screen that I am hoping to get away.”
