US cable network Pop (formerly known as TVGN) says it may become involved as a co-producer on Wolf Creek if the show proceeds beyond its first season.

Pop president Brad Schwartz told the Television Critics Association press tour, the Stan series was a perfect fit for the general entertainment channel to celebrate “fandom.”

“It’s a way for us to get into drama” he  said.

“It’s entertaining as hell.”

With an ongoing US debate about violence against women, he noted the series included a female protagonist, adding the TV series “is a thriller story, not a horror story.”

But he was also asked what cuts and edits might be made in the show for Pop TV.

“The original series was produced for an SVOD service—there are no rules when you do that…I always start from a place that we will not do anything to it (then) the lawyers get involved,” he noted.

“You try to stay as close to the creative vision as possible, protecting the creative vision and respecting the viewer experience.”

Stan recently announced a deal for the North American and Latin American markets through Lionsgate.

It is yet to announce further plans for Wolf Creek.
