Brownlow brings Monday home for Seven
Ratings: Patrick Dangerfield's win draws a big crowd in Melbourne, with Brownlow night impacting other Monday shows.

The Brownlow Medal once again ensured Seven had a huge audience share last night, drawing 934,000 in 3 cities alone. 635,000 of those were in Melbourne. Patrick Dangerfield’s win was down on last year’s 1.05m but it was enough to top younger Demos and dominate its timeslot.
Comparatively, The Block, 7:30, Australian Story and Survivor were all down on last Monday.
Have You Been Paying Attention? also saw a dip, which is presumably Brownlow affected. But Nine’s filler show Millionaire Mansions tanked, which it will hope is not a sign of things to come for Unreal Estate tonight.
Seven network won the night with 37.6%, then Nine 22.9%, TEN 17.1%, ABC 17.0% and TEN 5.4%.
Seven News was #1 with 1.19m / 966,000 for Seven then Brownlow Medal (934,000 in 3 cities, Red Carpet: 597,000), The Chase (714,000 / 464,000), Home and Away (569,000 in 3 cities), Talking Footy (397,000 in 3 cities), Highway Patrol (364,000 / 355,000 in 2 cities). Movie: Red was 189,000 in 2 cities.
Nine News (1.02m / 955,000) led for Nine followed by A Current Affair (936,000), The Block (890,000) and Hot Seat (590,000). Millionaire Mansions failed at just 311,000.
Australian Survivor was 654,000 for TEN. Have You Been Paying Attention? drew 635,000, The Project was 624,000 / 438,000, TEN Eyewitness News was 469,000 and The Odd Couple was 192,000 / 114,000.
ABC News (769,000), 7:30 (704,000), Australian Story (668,000), Four Corners (586,000), Media Watch (401,000) and Q&A (431,000) comprised ABC’s night.
On SBS it was 24 Hours in Emergency (210,000), Skies Above Britain (167,000), SBS World News (159,000) and Richard Hammond’s Wild Weather (124,000).
ABC2’s Octonauts topped multichannels with 240,000.

ABC News Breakfast: 94,000 / 58,000

need to stop Bruce telling the winner they have unofficially won then have the last 2 rds done then Gil say the winner is big let down and its like he is trying to upstage the official announcement
I agree. I watch the polls and noticed that Dangerfield is 3 or more votes ahead of Luke Parker in Round 22. Hence Bruce jumped too far.
Brownlow Medal = One big yawn. Watched a DVD instead.
Ten need to fine tune Eleven more. Ratings have been dropping for Eleven. Amazing how Brownlow does better than the Logies, go figure.

Yes. One is a tedious, banal, overly long, self-congratulatory, w*nkfest, and the other just counts up the votes for footballers for each match of every round. Go figure.
I think its the WAGS on the red carpet that attract the viewers….. well that’s my theory!
The organisers of the Brownlow have done a really good job turning something that could be just counting votes into a night that celebrates the season that is ending. The announcements of the votes are done as quickly as possible, and are amply interspersed with reviews of the best play and funny moments of each round, plus celebrating retirees, Auskick kids, women’s footy, goal and mark of the year. I really enjoyed the show, with the only negative being wasting time with a “red carpet” and Bruce McAvaney asking attendees inane questions. The rest was great.
