Former Eggheads panelist CJ de Mooi has been arrested on suspicion of murder in the UK after claiming he may have killed a man in his autobiography.

Joseph Connagh, known as CJ de Mooi on the UK quiz show, was arrested under a European arrest warrant by Dutch Police at Heathrow Airport on Wednesday.

In his autobiography, De Mooi admitted he may have killed a mugger in Holland two decades ago, noting he punched a drug addict, who approached him with a knife, before throwing him in the canal.

“He caught me on the wrong day and I just snapped,” he wrote.

“I fully suspect I killed him. I’ve no idea what happened to him.”

De Mooi appeared at Westminster Magistrates’ Court this week, where he said he would fight extradition to the Netherlands.

Eggheads airs in Australia on ABC.
