Emmy Awards 2016: winners

Wins for Game of Thrones, Veep, People vs. OJ, Rami Malek, Tatiana Maslany & Ben Mendelsohn!

2016-09-19_1013

“Tonight is the night we come together to celebrate shows we will never get around to watching,” said host Jimmy Kimmel as the 68th Primetime Emmy Awards get underway at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles.

“If Donald Trump gets elected builds that wall the first person we’re throwing over is Mark Burnett,” he joked. “The tribe has spoken.”

Kimmel also joked shows would need a dragon or a white bronco car if they expected to win but warned that if there are any winners not present then the trophy will go to the next person -aptly referencing Maggie Smith who has won 3 times but never attended. “You’re Downton Absent.”

  1. Hi David,
Is there a reason why not a single one of the screenshots in this article includes the FOX8 logo (the channel that broadcasts the show live and pays a lot of money to do so), yet on other articles you include the FTA channel logo (for example, the Sunday ratings story includes a single photo of The Block with a clear logo)?

    1. Goodness such conspiracy theories. Happy to take the question on notice. I prefer cleanest shots, but it isn’t always possible, depending on the image context. Sometimes it just looks too weird to trim a photo to an inch of its life to keep the watermark out, so it’s a case by case thing really. Over the life of the blog you will find posts with / without for every network. FOX8 has had plenty of coverage and promotion in Emmys posts from me and frankly should be pretty happy I have given it such comprehensive coverage -sometimes these images are up before the presenters have left the stage.

  2. Oh, and a big congrats to Ben. He is a brilliant actor.
Haven’t seen him in Bloodline but he’s always impressive in all of his roles.
I remember seeing him way back in The Year My Voice Broke and thinking this young guy is something special.

  3. So good to see Tatiana finally get the recognition she deserves.
Would love to see Better Call Saul win for best drama as well but sadly, I don’t think it will happen..
