1980s sitcom Family Ties will become the next small screen hit to get the theatrical makeover, with a stage play to be developed by one of the companies behind Wicked, the Araca Group.

Set to debut in Ohio (where the show was set) next June, the production won’t be a musical but will draw from the entire seven seasons of the Keaton clan.

Playwright Daniel Goldstein, who directed the 2011 revival of Godspell and wrote the book for the musical Unknown Soldier, will adapt the series.

Other TV shows to enjoy stage adaptations include Cheers, Gilligan’s Island, The Brady Bunch, High School Musical, South Park, Smash, The Addams Family, Fawlty Towers, Yes Minister, Bad Girls, ‘Allo ‘Allo, Mrs Browns Boys and Prisoner.
