Seven News dominates news battle in the west

Now their new studio is open, Nine News has its work cut out to come close to the competition.

As this 2016 graph for 6pm news bulletins shows, there’s a huge gap between Seven and Nine in Perth.

Nine will doubtless be hoping its new HQ sends a renewed message around town. It’s gonna be a long haul in Stokes-land.

This graph includes all of the weeks this year, for both 6pm / 6:30pm half hour block, including non-ratings and Olympics weeks.

Interestingly it was during Olympics that Nine News enjoyed its last surge when Seven rested its second half hour. Only 4 more years to go?

  1. Just pointing out that Perth’s Ten Eyewitness News at 5pm usually out rates Nine Perth on a nightly basis too. It’s a superior product in my opinion, I prefer it to Seven news. No fluffing about with newspaper cross promoting or AFL heavy stories. Although they do the odd Shark Tank success story updates disguised as a news story which are refreshing for a change at least.

  2. Ch 7 is owned and controlled by Stokes,a person who backs the Liberal Party at all cost, he has swallowed the Sunday Times(ex Murdoch so no political change there) and a 100 people are on the street in WA where I come from,Ch7 where the first Channel in Perth and they have successfully dumbed down the Population ever since.
Unfortunately 9,10,are even worse SBS and the ABC are being wrecked by the prat Turnbull/Abbott Govt cutting funding and installing an ex Murdoch manager as the CEO,if the Govt Changes I think there will be a lot of unemployed Liberals in Canberra as they lose their sinecures in the Public Service,I wont mention the NBN mess

      1. Totally forgetting that Basil Zempi las is Mr Stokes favourite!

I say this all the time 7news Perth and its cross promotion with The West is so onesided.
