Later this month National Geographic will air the two hour telemovie, Killing Reagan, which screens in the US today.
Based on the book from Bill O’Reilly and Martin Dugard, this follows from previous projects Killing Lincoln, Killing Kennedy and Killing Jesus.
Killing Reagan takes a different approach than its predecessors, exploring how the attempted assassination on the recently elected president impacted his presidency.
Tim Matheson and Cynthia Nixon play Ronald and Nancy Reagan respectively.
A press release notes, “Reaching back to the golden days of Hollywood, where Reagan found both fame and heartbreak, up through his years in the California governor’s mansion and finally to the White House, Killing Reagan goes in-depth on the president’s rise to power that was nearly cut short after a gunman’s bullet came within inches of his heart.”
An earlier release from Nat Geo indicated this would premiere globally in 171 countries, however it has a two week delay in Australia.
Update: 8:30pm Sunday October 23 on FX.
