On Friday SBS premieres 3 part doco series The Private Lives of the Tudors, which looks behind the closed doors of one of the most celebrated royal dynasties.

Based on a book by Tracy Borman and packed with atmospheric reconstructions, this three part series brings to life history’s enduring personalities, including Henry VIII and Queen Elizabeth I, and the age in which they lived.

From known historical scandal, to the minute details of Tudor habits and rituals, this series is entirely dedicated to reveal the private aspects of life at court.

Armed with fresh research, historian Tracy Borman reveals the truth about everything from the Tudor bedding ceremony to Henry VIII’s affairs.
