American TV legend Carol Burnett is returning to the small screen in a starring role.
She is set to star in an untitled multicamera comedy to be executive produced by Amy Poehler.
The project centres around a family who gets the chance to buy the house of their dreams on the condition that they live with the current owner -an older actress (Burnett)- until she dies.
Amy Poehler will co-executive produce the comedy via her Universal TV-based Paper Kite production company.
The script is written by Michael Saltzman (Mad Men, The Middle, Murphy Brown, Wings) with ABC (US) attached to the ‘put-pilot’, which will attract substantial monies if it is not picked up.
Over her legendary career, which has included The Carol Burnett Show, Mad About You and Carol & Company as well as episodes of Glee and Hawaii Five-O, 83 year old Burnett has amassed 22 Emmy nominations and at SAG Lifetime Achievement award earlier this year.
