Aussie actor David Lyons (Sea Patrol, The Cape, Revolution, Game of Silence) has signed on to star in the Netflix cop drama Seven Seconds written by The Killing creator Veena Sud.

Seven Seconds is based on the Russian movie The Major, and focuses on a standoff between Jersey City cops and the city’s African-American community after a black teen is critically injured by a police officer.

Lyons will play Jersey City cop Mike Diangelo, who heads up the department’s narcotics squad; he’s joined by Beau Knapp (The Nice Guys), who co-stars as a newbie cop who signs up for Diangelo’s squad.

Seven Seconds is set for ten episode but no premiere date has been set as yet.

Updated: The WGA has granted Veena Sud (the series creator and writer) rights to the series/storyline.
