Former Nine exec to consult for TV3

Nine’s former Managing Director Programming and Production Andrew Backwell will work as a consultant to TV3 in New Zealand.

Backwell, who formally parts from Nine at the end of the month, was contacted by MediaWorks chief Michael Anderson.

The Australian reports Backwell’s role does not breach a non-compete agreement with Nine, which only applies to the Australian market.

Mediaworks is owned by US hedge fund Oaktree Capital, which itself owns around 7% of Nine Entertainment Co.

Former Nine chief sales officer Peter Wiltshire also has a consultancy role with MediaWorks.
