Oops. More tech trouble for Nine News

Those gremlins in the Nine News system sure are becoming frequent.

Those gremlins in the Nine News system sure are becoming frequent.

Last night it was Melbourne’s turn to watch Sydney’s Peter Overton after the 6pm bulletin failed to launch. After a few minutes Peter Hitchener appeared, but without sound, before Overton returned.

Peter Hitchener later told viewers, “Thank you so much for staying with us and we’re now going to resume the news now from Melbourne.”

The problem lays in Nine’s Mosart system, causing identical problems in Sydney over the last month.

  1. I was watching that last night. We lost signal & I thought it was because it was windy & then we saw what you reported. Something different, I guess 😉

  2. Can’t expect cuts to technical staff without expecting compromises in the delivery. This is the last thing Nine News needs as the war continues with Seven. And if i was the newsreader, I would feel pretty angry about being made to look like an idiot

  3. So having your viewers watching an interstate bulletin is a “minor issue?” Hate to see a major one!
And the Mosart system, what is that? They used to point a camera at the newsreader, turn his microphone on and away you went. Seems technology has gotten too smart for its own good.
