Report: DogTV mulling Aussie launch

It's TV for Dogs. For real.

DogTV, a 24-hour television channel created just for dogs, is set to launch in several new territories in 2017.

The US channel is already expanded to the UK, China, Germany, Israel, France and the Netherlands.

According to C21, DogTV is now targeting launches in Australia, Brazil, Poland, Argentina, Canada, Italy, Romania, Russia, Spain, Denmark, Sweden, Finland, Croatia and Switzerland in 2017.

DogTV programming is specifically designed for dogs’ eyes and ears to create the right environment for stay-at-home pooches divided into three categories: Relaxation, Stimulation and Exposure to help dogs acclimate to anxiety-inducing situations.

  1. Maybe it will replace TV4Me or when Community TV goes we’ll get SBS DogTv channel to go alomg with SBS Viceland. I’m sure DogTv will be in their charter as long as they Inspector Rex a couple of times a week, throw in repeats of the Canadian version of Littlest Hobo from the 80’s and it’s a cinch.

  2. I know this sounds odd but I would use this channel. Our dog is left at home often and I generally leave either the radio or TV on for him… if there is an animated program he seems especially engaged.

  3. Seven have already tried programming for dogs with all those collections of Youtube cat videos.

I don’t about the dog but the cat likes to watch soccer on TV. Probably all those rat-sized people running around.

  4. Given The Outdoor Channel has been trying to launch in Australia for something like 3 years to no avail I can’t see DogTV being added to the Foxtel platform anytime soon. Besides, Foxtel are in the habit of dropping channels, not adding them.

      1. Apologies. You are correct, it could launch as an online OTT service. When I searched it on Wikipedia it said it was available on DirecTV, leading me to automatically assume the launch would entail the likes of Foxtel or FetchTV.
