Dating the H Bomb is an unconventional documentary where three ordinary Australians candidly share deeply intimate stories of how they were first diagnosed with the herpes virus and their ensuing struggles as they search for love. Recorded anonymously and visually represented by puppets, we’ll hear how they’ve adapted to life and love with an incurable and totally taboo virus. Through interviews and re-enactments, we discover that even through our heroes have learnt the hard way, herpes has taught them more about love, sex, and human relationships than they ever anticipated.

Agony of Flirting

Our beloved Agony Aunts and Uncles are here to make you laugh and cry as they take a funny, emotional, and heart-warming look at one of society’s most sensitive topics – the Agony of Flirting. Feminism has been a thing since 1894, yet some men still don’t know the difference between flirtation and sexual harassment. In fact, a number of them continue to be concerned that by condemning sexual harassment, we will somehow accidentally sweep up well-meaning compliments and flirting as well. But feminists say there’s no need to panic and that women are still happy to flirt and be told they look nice, but they shouldn’t be treated like sex objects or have to put up with catcalls from building sites. Sounds fair. But the problem is some men have enjoyed positive responses from women after whistling at them from building sites and that’s why they continue to do it. So where’s the line? Feminists say that most men should be able to work out the difference between complimenting someone and harassing them. The clue is in the word: “harassment”. But are they overestimating men? Or do different women enjoy different kinds of interactions?

Pensioners, lawyers, married couples, and teenagers are all customers at the Angelo Love Hotel in Osaka Japan. With unprecedented access into one of the most private and anonymous spaces in Japanese society, this film follows the love hotel’s struggling manager and staff as they try to keep their hotel running, as well as revealing the intimate and private lives of the customers who visit. Japanese ‘love hotels’ are secretive labyrinths filled with intimate stories of strangers. The Angelo Hotel is one such place. It is not a brothel, but in a conformist society, it is only here where, with wife, mistress, partner or alone, people of all ages may unlock their desires and without judgment – ‘love’ and ‘be’ how they wish. #LoveHotel

With no state of their own, no government and no written history, the most traditional Roma Gypsies have kept their culture alive by passing down age-old customs from father to son and from mother to daughter. Filmed over three months, with extraordinary access to two traditional Roma Gypsy families living across the Midlands, Manchester, and Yorkshire the film offers a never-before-seen insider view on a community living according to ancient customs. The documentary uncovers the codes these families live by and find a world where arranged marriages for children are commonplace and bride money is openly negotiated.
