Next week Seven News Melbourne presenter Peter Mitchell presents a special 10 To 1: Countdown Our Greatest News Events.
This one is airing nationally.
We countdown the Top 10 world-shattering news events of the past six decades both at home and across the globe.
The arrival of colour television, the moon landing, the Beatles in Australia.
Who can forget the death of Diana or the assassination of President Kennedy?
The Sydney Olympics or our famous America’s Cup victory?
What will be Number One? Everyone will have an opinion.
A panel of Australia’s leading academics will deliberate and present their final list of the most defining moments on television.
Featuring never-before-seen archive footage, Seven News presenters and reporters who were there when it happened give their unique and compelling accounts of being in the front seat as they witnessed history in the making.
Wednesday at 8.40pm on Seven.

Hang on just a moment…. Don’t Nine own the words 10 to 1? In the Bert era of 20 to 1 they ran a few 10 to 1 episodes (presumably to squeeze into a small timeslot)
Haven’t 9 already done this? They had a series of events that shaked the 70’s, 80’s, 90’s & 00’s.
You would think seven would have more better programming then this.
Pretty predictable. No 1 – September 11. No 2 – Neil Armstrong on the moon. Because Seven had the rights the Sydney Olympics will probably be No 3.
Yes, no contest for Number 1. The only news event that made me throw up in fear.
I feel quite uncomfortable about an entertainment show that is riding on the back of human suffering.
This special will actually be local to each market, Mark Ferguson is presenting it in Sydney.
Thanks for that.
Thanks Jock. I had no idea who Peter Mitchell was.
It’s in the first sentence.
Wait? 10 to 1? Mmmm … the name rings a bell doesn’t it.
Seven’s version of 20 to 1? Of course 7 will have never before seen footage of the 2000 Olympics as the were the host broadcaster.
a filler program = yes.
But at least its new Aussie content and not another “funny animals” clip show airing.
