Next week SBS premieres Wild Canada, a 4 part series that captures sweeping panoramas and close-ups of Canada’s terrain and diverse species, all shot with ultra-high-definition cameras.
Episode One: The Eternal Frontier
In 1947, the Italian navigator and explorer Giovanni Caboto (known as John Cabot) was attempting to find a new trade route to China. Instead, he and his companions arrived at the east coast of North America, and became the first Europeans since the Vikings to lay claim to this ‘new found land’. At the time of Cabot’s arrival, the Iroquoian and Algonquian people of the eastern forests had created a rich and lush homeland, a savannah-like habitat where wildlife thrived. By adopting the canoe of the indigenous people for travel and transportation, the Europeans were able to push their frontier west and north across the country. On its far northern edge, the forest provides shelter for one of the Arctic’s most famous animals – the polar bear.

“…shot with ultra-high-definition cameras.”
A moot point with regard to Aus TV.
David, I think you mean 1497 not 1947. Thanks.
Hmmm-bit of a change of scale from the recently screened ‘Wild Singapore’…
