HBO has renewed two new comedies, Insecure and Divorce, for second seasons.
Both have won a further 10 episodes, expected for 2017.
Insecure, featuring Issa Rae, increases from 8 to 10 episodes as part of the renewal. Divorce, created by actress-comedian Sharon Horgan (Catastrophe), has served as Sarah Jessica Parker’s comeback following Sex and the City.
Ratings for both shows have been on par with critical hits Veep and Girls, with Divorce earning 4.4 million US viewers and Insecure pulling 3.2 US million including DVR.
The comedies both join a renewal by sci-fi drama Westworld also announced today.
“We’re seven weeks in and I’ve got now a really solid data on all three shows,” HBO programming chief Casey Bloys said. “We wanted to make sure that we have solid hits here, and we do. It’s really exciting.”
Both shows are currently screening in Australia on Showcase.

I gave Divorce 2 eps and had to give it away… Thomas Haden Church’s character is so over the top and unbelievable, just wasn’t enjoying it..
Though Sarah Jessica P is very good as usual.
Well you gave it one more episode than me! I just find it hard to watch Americans trying to be funny, it seems too forced.
Divorce is terrific so I’m stoked with that. I only saw the first episode of Insecure before I went on Uni placement, but it seemed a more offbeat (if that’s possible) version on Girls, so if it continues in that vein, then I’ll be happy with that too!
