UK documentary series One Born Every Minute returns to SBS next month, looking at the drama and emotion of a maternity unit, from the perspective of the parents-to-be and the maternity ward staff.

The most recent series aired in the UK in March 2015, with an 8th on the way (of course!).

Every minute of every hour of every day, a baby is born in Britain. This is the real drama of every day life. One Born Every Minute captures the dramatic, emotional and often funny moments that accompany bringing new life into the world. The intimate footage gives a unique inside view of what it is really like when life begins.

Using state of the art technology, forty-four cameras were placed around the maternity ward for seven weeks in Leeds General Infirmary, UK. Filming from the reception desk to the neo-natal ward; from the operating theatre to the birthing pool this fourteen-part documentary captures those dramatic, tender and heart-warming moments shared between families – from single mums to young mums – all who will go on to have widely varying birth experiences.

9:30pm Tuesday December 13 on SBS.
