Stan retains Transparent, Mozart in the Jungle premieres.

New streaming service doesn't mean the competition loses key titles.

A few questions have been coming in as a result of Amazon Prime Video launching in Australia. Here’s what we know….

Stan will retain exclusive first run rights to both Transparent and Mozart in the Jungle. It is screening season 3 of both.

Amazon Prime has season 1 of both, and neither could confirm when the new seasons will arrive.

“Our goal is to make all of our Originals available globally,” a spokesperson for Amazon said.

On the question of subscription at US currency…. it is fair to say the pricing may fluctuate marginally subject to the $US dollar rate.

“A subscription to Amazon Prime Video will cost $2.99 USD a month for the first six months – a 50 percent discount off the full price of $5.99/month. Some financial institutions add additional transaction fees for foreign transactions,” they continued.

“The price will stay the same at the introductory price of $2.99 a month for the first six months – a 50 percent discount off the full price of $5.99 /month.”

That puts the introductory offer at $AU4.07 a month and $A8.15 at full price -but it depends what the rate is when you sign up.

On the question of devices: Prime Video members can watch anytime, anywhere through the Amazon Prime Video app on Android and iOS phones and tablets, Fire Tablets, popular LG and Samsung Smart TVs or online at PrimeVideo.com—and can also download all titles to mobile devices for offline viewing.

  1. It would probably be better for Amazon to allow a one off full season purchase of their prestige Man in a High Castle as the likelihood of a DVD release is not getting any positive responses to my enquiries. The business of having too many ongoing VISA accounts, which are obligatory to use these overseas streaming sites, is a major distraction.

  2. Does this also apply to The Man In The High Castle season 2 (i.e. showing first on a different service)? Because I’ve been refreshing the Amazon Prime web page all day and no sign of it although S1 is on there. I’ll give them another 24 hours to take my money legitimately.

      1. Still no sign of it. I’m wondering whether S2 is blocked until my 7 day free trial period ends. Will check back later in the week.

S2 is definitely out because the “other means” sites already have it up and available.

        1. I contacted Amazon support:

‘”The Man in the High Castle – Season 2″ isn’t currently available for streaming through Prime Video for Australian customers. Video availability depends on our agreements with content owners. We’re constantly working to improve our agreements so we can offer the largest selection of movies and TV shows possible.’

          Well, so much for that.

  3. This seems like a honeymoon deal to me in order to get some marker share. I took the US membership to get the Grand Tour (First Month Free) but I will be paying 10.99 USD @ month – but seems all seasons are available of the above mentioned shows – I don’t watch these though
