Today weatherman Stevie Jacob is leaving the weekday edition of the Nine breakfast after 12 years -but remaining within the Nine family.

“After 12 years I have decided to hang up my boots from Monday to Friday, but the good news is our esteemed leader Mark Calvert has come up with a great program to make my work more flexible, so that I can stay with you guys,” he said.

“I will be joining the weekend team and doing some weather there so I’m still part of the family. I just won’t be here with you every day.

“It’s just been a great honour to be part of this show.”

Host Karl Stefanovic, who said he started around the same time as Jacobs, said “You are a true broadcaster and mostly you’re a wonderful human being and a great dad.

“We may not see you every day but I know our audience will be pouring out emotion for you today as well.”

Jacobs, 49, is understood to be spending more time at his property in Vanuatu.

  1. I was hoping it was going to say he was replacing Pete in the weekend main chair. What a pity he isn’t. Will miss him on Today, a genuine really nice guy.

  2. What a very sad day. Along with Karl & Lisa, Stevie is the reason I wake up every day with Today. I just hope his replacement is just as good. Please just don’t let it be Natalia Cooper. After Brian Bury, Monte Dwyer & Stevie the next presenter has a lot to live up to & she is not the right person.
