Renewed: The Flash, Arrow, Supergirl, Legends of Tomorrow, Jane the Virgin

US network The CW has renewed its superhero universe plus Jane the Virgin.

US network The CW has renewed its superhero universe Arrow, The Flash, DC’s Legends of Tomorrow, Supergirl plus Jane the Virgin, My Crazy Ex Girlfriend, and Supernatural.

“Over the past several seasons, The CW has built a schedule of proven performers, from our lineup of DC superheroes, to critically acclaimed comedies, to sci-fi dramas,” CW president Mark Pedowitz said in a statement. “Early pickups of these seven series now allow our producers to plan ahead for next season, and gives us a solid base to build on for next season, with original scripted series to roll out all year long.”

Missing from the announcement were The 100, iZombie, The Originals, Frequency and No Tomorrow.

  1. The DC universe is just superhero soap especially Arrow which is doing a lot of costume cross dressing as it sets up all those extra plots for all those planned sequels. My impression is that Arrow’s original producers are getting much too ambitious with their DC products and thinning the attraction of the Arrows origins to a point where Arrow season 1 is not really connected at all with the more ambivalent Arrow 2017 which is a typical soapy trick. Flash and DC’s Legends of Tomorrow pop up like advertising breaks to save the day, Supergirl makes you wonder where Superman and Batman are if the World is such peril courtesy of the inter dimensional time shifting Flash.

  2. We watch all the DC roster except Supergirl – haven’t gotten round to it yet. Haven’t liked Legends as much without Rory…I mean Rip but Arrow and Flash remain strong.

  3. Frequency and No Tomorrow are dead and they’re not about to renew the other 3 before the current seasons of those shows actually air.

Also announced at the same time was an ambitious musical crossover between Supergirl and Flash.
