US comedy The Middle, featuring Patricia Heaton, has been renewed for a ninth season -which is quite a long-run by today’s standards.
“The Middle has been one of the network’s most consistent performers and helped us to launch a whole new night of comedy,” said Channing Dungey, ABC Entertainment president.
“The Indiana Hecks have found America’s sweet spot with their authentic, acerbic and always loving take on parenting, work, kids, marriage and life.”
Created and is executive produced by Eileen Heisler and DeAnn Heline, it airs in Australia on 9GO!

Always loved The Middle right from the Very Start Great Show
I absolutely love this little show, such a shame it was never given a proper prime time spot here on 9 instead of the endless repeats of BBT….
I completely agree. Each episode has something that makes me laugh and develops the characters further. Modern Family and The Middle started in the same year but one got way overpraised and the other underpraised IMHO.
