WIN appoints Programming Manager

Danny Mitrovic returns to regional broadcaster after time in independent production.

Regional broadcaster WIN has appointed Danny Mitrovic to the role of Network Programming Content Manager.

He rejoins WIN after a period of running his own production company. Mitrovic spent 14 years working at WIN from 1998 – 2012 in senior programming and production roles.

“Danny knows WIN’s regional markets well from his years spent with the network during its growth across the country. He will be a great asset to WIN as we continue to deliver programming to regional Australia,” WIN’s CEO Andrew Lancaster said.

“This new role is also recognition of the evolving needs of our viewing audience. Regional Australians are avid consumers of local news and along with our other programming content, Danny will be responsible for ensuring the broadcast schedule content meets the needs of our regional viewers.”

“The decades with WIN were exciting as it grew across Australia. Now we are in a media environment that has multiple platforms and digitial channels. I’m looking forward to the challenge of working on WIN’s content,” Mitrovic added.

Danny Mitrovic will commence in his new role at WIN from today.

  1. What does this guy do? Look at Ten, One and 11’s schedule and see how many repeats of All Australian News he can fit in a day?

Seriously though, if he’s about making sure regional Australians get the programming that makes sense for them, he should re-work All Australian News into a live Morning news bulletin that runs 7am-830am with news headlines every 10 minutes, weather and a ticker

    1. Agree. Not that hard. They did it previously when they dumped Nine’s morning programs and produced “Susie” (with “Ellen”, which they were first to air in Aust). Perhaps the new Network Programming Content Manager could consider that rather than renewing more cooking and fishing shows, although they probably get paid to air these shows as they are full of commercial plugs. Still, a mix of everything could be made to work. And they have TEN News server access for news content.

  2. Interviewer: So when we are broadcasting a television program, what is the one thing you must do?
Danny: Err…. Place a gigantic WIN map of Australia logo in the corner, covering the network logo and half their on screen graphics?
Interviewer: You’ve got the job, congratulations! Welcome back to the WIN family.

    1. As seen for the first 6 months the TEN program feed did not carry a TEN logo, so there was no cover up, unlike with 9, just a transparent WIN logo same as TENs. Now we have this hideous solid blue thing foisted on us.
“Network Programming Content Manager”. Must be a really busy job scheduling all of those Alive ‘n’ Cooking and Fishing Australia reruns.
