Axed: League Nation Live

Indigenous NRL show was quietly axed by NITV late last year due to budget limitations.

NITV’s League Nation Live was quietly axed late last year after 1 season, with a message on social media:

“To our awesome LNL fans, we’d like to announce that League Nation Live will not be returning to NITV in 2017 due to budget limitations. We’re disappointed but have had a live and deadly time with the team! We’d like to thank all our fans and the community for their support and involvement across the year.”

The Brisbane-filmed series on NRL was hosted by Justin Hodges, Aaron Fa’Aoso, Hannah Hollis, Jodan Perry and Nathan Appo. Produced by Indigenous production company, Carbon Media, it was filmed in front of a live studio audience.

A spokesperson told TV Tonight, “NITV has a strong heritage in covering sport and a successful history of bringing sports entertainment to its audiences through a unique Indigenous lens. We’re disappointed that we are unable to continue League Nation Live, but remain committed to championing rugby league, from a grassroots level through our longstanding coverage of the Koori Knockout to exploring more opportunities to celebrate Indigenous achievements in the game within available budgets.”
