Mistress releases more Seven exchanges: “We got Mercedes’ signature”

Amber Harrison sends tweets surrounding Seven's deal with the Corbys and the subsequent raid by the AFP.

Amber Harrison has released more internal documentation in her “whistleblower” tweets with Channel Seven.

Her latest tweets show exchanges surrounding a 2014 interview with Mercedes Corby, about the release of her sister Schapelle. The exchanges are between then-Sunday Night producer Mark Llewellyn and CEO Tim Worner.

“We got Mercedes’ signature late last night. So very close,” Mark Llwellyn said on February 8 2014.

“Is it in the bag? No. I am operating on that!!?” Worner replied.

But it is unclear what the signature refers to.

Seven has maintained it did not pay the Corbys for the interview.

Fairfax notes a subsequent court case found Seven signed an exclusivity deal with Meredes in which the Corbys would be hosted in a secure villa with a local driver “as well as providing Mercedes Corby with a Samsung smartphone which she could retain.”

The AFP raided Seven’s offices on February 18 (pictured) with warrants to prevent any proceeds of crime travelling overseas.

Harrison has released communications from commercial director Bruce McWilliam to the Board.

“Apologies for typos as feds r in my office and doing it on blackberry [sic].

“Please note it isn’t an offence to pay money. The authorities are entitled to go after the payee.”

A company spokesman on Thursday night said: “Those emails relate to the AFP matter which was settled successfully in court and successfully gained an apology from the AFP.”

Yesterday Harrison tweeted, “Is my case the first cover up Seven West Media has been involved in?” ad hat Seven has copies of everything she is posting.

  1. Well, simply, the dictionary defines “Mistress” as “a woman (other than the man’s wife) having a sexual relationship with a married man”. That is the person this story is about.
Are these postings of previous employer emails doing anything for her future hiring prospects?

    1. Yes, but Tex’s point is that Worner is not being referred to with the equivalent term. This is something that happens all too often in the media, where the woman is painted with a (sometimes not so) slightly darker brush than the man for the same activity.

Arguably, it’s Worner who should be tarred more heavily because he was in a position of considerably more power than Harrison. A position which he has used to his advantage during and since the affair.

I do wonder what Harrison’s end game is (presuming she has one). What’s she going to do when she’s shot her final bolt if Worner and Seven just hunker down until she’s out of ammo?

  2. The Australian reported today that SWM “has lost well over $200M since the board announced Tim Worner was staying on as CEO”. As a public company, surely they have no choice & will have to let him go.

    1. Share prices fluctuate, it’s the nature of the beast. IMO the shares would go down further should Tim be forced to leave. The Directors first responsibility is to the shareholders and they don’t get a conscience vote.

  3. I see that the 7 / Worner publicity machine is working well even here. “Mistress”? Really?

Technically, maybe correct – but you can’t deny it carries certain connotations, reinforces a double-standard, and implies that it’s all the woman’s fault. There’s not too many headlines calling Tim Worner a “maistre”, or “philanderer”, or “cad”, or even “cheating b****d”…
