Returning: Black Sails

The fourth and final season gets underway on Showcase this Sunday.

The fourth and final season of Black Sails gets underway on Showcase this Sunday.

Black Sails features Aussie actors Luke Arnold and Toby Schmitz.

This premiered in the US in late January.

Hundreds of British soldiers lie dead in a forest… the Royal Navy sails back to England in retreat… the West Indies are now a war zone, and the shores of New Providence Island have never been bloodier. With the help of Eleanor Guthrie, Woodes Rogers transforms Nassau into a fortress without walls, as Captain Flint amasses a fleet of unprecedented strength, hoping to strike the final blow against civilization and reshape the world forever.

Meanwhile, from within the island… an insurgency builds, fuelled by the legend of its exiled leader, whose name keeps grown men awake at night… the one they call “Long Live John Silver.” But as Flint, Silver and their allies are about to learn, the closer civilization comes to defeat, the more desperately and destructively it will fight back. Oaths will be shattered, fortunes will change hands, and amidst the chaos, only one thing remains certain: it has never been more dangerous to be a pirate.

Sundays from February 12 at 9.30pm on Showcase.

  1. I would usually be excited but unfortunately I lost my recordings of the entire 3rd season when my second IQ3 blew up so I’m still waiting for either Showcase to replay them or for one of the streaming services to acquire the rights 🙁 I’ll get to them one day…

  2. Can’t wait!
So disappointed that it’s the last season, I have really enjoyed this show. All TV writers should pay close attention to the way Flint’s twist was so slowly and inauspiciously revealed – fabulous and rollicking viewing!

  3. Black Sails is an excellent big budget production and I will be sad to see it go, As is commented about fairly often in these TV forums the almost one month delay to broadcast of this show is curious considering all the big studio gripes about illegal downloading and criticism from overseas consumers wanting some viewing parity with North American audiences.
