ABC Children’s commissioning editor to depart

Chris Rose leaving ABC to become join Beano Studios in the UK.

Chris Rose, ABC Commissioning Editor Animation, Children’s Television, is leaving to become
Director of Development and Production at Beano Studios in the UK.

Rose has spent the past five years down under at the children’s department of the ABC, arriving from UK-based Hit Entertainment in 2012 as Vice President of development and programming.

During his time at the ABC, Rose was responsible for the development, commissioning and execution of series including The Flamin’ Thongs, Kazoops and The Deep.

At Beano Studios, Rose will be responsible for long-term projects across TV, film and theatre for both existing Beano characters and new IP, working with CEO Emma Scott.

“Chris shares our ambition to make Beano Studios an international force in the world of longform children’s storytelling, whether that’s for television, film, theatre or other platforms,” said Scott.

“He’s a big hitter with the right mix of experience and flair to take the Beano brand, its well-loved characters and brand new ones to a whole host of new audiences.”
