The Oscars wanted to be spontaneous and authentic when Jimmy Kimmel hauled a bus of Hollywood tourists onto Live TV during the Academy Awards this week, but it’s a stunt that has now attracted headlines for the wrong reasons.
Media are reporting that “Gary from Chicago’, a.k.a. Gary Alan Coe, who was paraded before stars including Nicole Kidman, Meryl Streep and Denzel Washington, was released from prison only three days before, and is on a sex offenders database.
LA Times reports, “It was a three-strikes conviction in 1997 on petty theft with violent priors, which included a 1985 robbery in Michigan, a 1982 robbery in Illinois and an attempted rape in 1978.”
Coe also told media that he found God and his fiancee Vickie Vines, who also featured, while serving time.
Jimmy Kimmel Live dropped a planned chat with Coe from its Monday show after they “made the creative decision to focus on other topics.”

Play with the fire of spontaneity and you risk getting burnt.
Leave the politics to the politicians, entertainment to the entertainers…. this cross over isn’t helping anyone
