TEN board member resigns, joins Foxtel, FOX Sports, SKY News.

Siobhan McKenna, who represented Lachlan Murdoch on the TEN board, takes up broadcasting role for News Corp.

Siobhan McKenna, who represented Lachlan Murdoch’s interests on the TEN board, has resigned to take up a new role for News Corp across Foxtel, FOX Sports and SKY News.

News Corp Australasia chairman Michael Miller announced, “I have asked Siobhan to provide strategic oversight of our broadcast assets, work closely with Peter Tonagh, Patrick Delany and Angelos Frangopoulos on their major initiatives, and to work with me to further develop the News Corp Australia portfolio.

“Siobhan has joined the boards of FOX Sports, Foxtel and SKY News as a director. She has deep experience across multiple media categories, and is a sought after business leader and company director across varied industries.

“Her deep knowledge of our industry; its challenges and opportunities make her a great asset to our company.”

TEN chairman David Gordon said, “I would like to thank Siobhan for her valuable and important contribution to the Board and the Company, and to wish her the very best for the future.”

Lachlan Murdoch’s Illyria group is not expected to announce an immediate replacement for the TEN board, which now comprises chairman David Gordon, Foxtel chief executive Peter Tonagh, WIN Corporation chief executive Andrew Lancaster, former Trade Minister Andrew Robb and Debbie Goodin.

  1. It sounds like Foxtel could be getting a bit of a reset in the near future, the emergence of Netflix and to a lesser degree Stan must be effecting their bottom line though only insiders would know more about that.
    How Foxtel will try to regain the commercial initiative after years of having the pay TV market to itself will be interesting to see.
