It may have missed out on a Logie but Seven / Netflix produced series Beat Bugs has won a Daytime Creative Emmy.

The series, which uses the music of The Beatles, won Outstanding Writing in a Preschool Animated Program for Aussie creator Josh Wakely, plus Cleon Prineas and Joshua Mapleston.

It beat entries including Peter Rabbit, Octonauts and Doc McStuffins.

“With Beat Bugs we started with the greatest songwriting of all time, and with a team of extraordinary writers, we tried to do it justice. Thank you to the Academy,” said Wakely.

Trollhunters, Days of Our Lives and Sesame Street topped the awards handed out at the Pasadena Civic Auditorium.

  1. Wow. That’s awesome news that it beat those three quite popular shows. Well done.

It can’t win a Logie, but can certainly win an Emmy (and on AACTA Award too). Woo.

  2. Always wonderful when something Australian is successful overseas ,,,,, I think the last Australian to win a daytime emmy was Bindi Irwin….
