  1. How the heck do Carlton get a Friday night game? They’re unbackable favourites for the wooden spoon. Last year the ALF made a big point about taking Richmond’s Friday night games away from them because of their. perceived, lack of success, then makes complete and utter fools of themselves by giving this motley crew of stragglers a high profile Friday night match.

    • See comment below. And this early in the season, it is impossible to predict exactly how a match will play out. Imagine if the Blues had pulled off a tight win – if Port had been decimated by injury – if it had been a mudbath – if two key Port players were injured in the first five minutes – if Port had started the year like the Hawks or Swans. There are too many variables to predict, and sometimes matches will be one-sided. Forget the score, and celebrate the quality play of one team, and the glimpses of future brilliance in the other.

  2. Easily the worst Friday AFL game in a very long time, shoud never have let Carlton play. And look what happened… 90pt belting by Port Adelaide! Even South Australia people tuned-out. Melbourne usually sees 400k+. Still did well in the key advertising demos.

Hope we never see that again.

As a result I spent my night watching Donnie Darko on 7flix & American Pie 2 on 7mate.

      • What’s with the tagline?

I am not “loyal” to any network, I just want to watch good programming, which Seven have over the other networks and hence why they’ve been #1 for over 10 years 🙂

My favourite network is actually Ten and I can’t wait for MasterChef!

      • The last two episodes of Broadchurch were incredibly weak after a good start. Overall this last series of Broadchurch has been a huge letdown. Although the Latimer plot line felt latched on to the mystery, in the end, the performances of Andrew Buchan (Mark) and Jodie Whitaker (Beth) were quietly devastating and rose above the clunky dialogue and second rate plotting. Olivia Colman was completely wasted this series, as was Arthur Darvill. Two excellent actors given little to do. David Tennant added nothing apart from lots of yelling and an incomprehensible Scots accent and the subplot with his daughter was risible. What a pity, as this could have been both a good mystery as well as a further character study about the ripples of tragedy though a small community. In the end, neither was satisfactorily resolved. Ended with a whimper. Very poor.

    • I like to see different teams playing in the marquee matches. Just look at NRL, which seems to have featured Broncos in every Friday match this year – so bored with it.

I would have stayed with the Carlton match but unfortunately don’t always get my choice of matches on Fridays.
