Husband speaks out on Erin Moran cancer: “It got so bad”

Scott Baio retreats from earlier comments linking her passing to drugs and alcohol abuse.

Erin Moran’s widower, Steven Fleischmann, has spoken about the final months of former Happy Days star who died earlier this week, aged 56.

His comments address false rumours that her death was linked to an abusive past.

A coroner confirmed Moran “likely succumbed to complications of stage 4 cancer. Standard toxicology tests were performed and the results are pending however no illegal narcotics were found at the residence.”

Steven Fleischmann has written:

It got so bad so fast. By the middle of February, Erin could no longer speak or eat or drink. She had a feeding tube implant and i feed her 6 to 8 times a day. She was still happy, she was active, she texted people on her phone all day. On the 21st she was having trouble breathing. She woke up on the 22nd, she was not 100%. She needed Kleenex, so i went to the store and came back. She was there watching T.V in bed. I laid down next to her held her right hand in my left. I feel asleep woke up about a hour later still holding her hand and she was gone, she was just gone..

Meanwhile former co-star Scott Baio has penned a series of Facebook posts retreating from comments about drug and alcohol which painted a different picture:

“I was asked ONLY about Erin’s troubled past due to drug & alcohol abuse. I was still upset and said I felt that living that kind of a lifestyle will catch up with you and nothing good would come of it. THIS WAS BEFORE THE CAUSE OF DEATH WAS ANNOUNCED STATING STAGE 4 CANCER.

“Now it seems every news outlet & tabloid wants to paint a different picture of me and of what really happened. They’re stating that I’m saying drugs caused her to die after it was reported stage 4 cancer. This is so wrong! Now I truly understand the meaning of ‘Fake News’. This is crazy.

“Please stop assuming the worse in me. I’m a compassionate person. I’m very heartbroken over her passing, especially since it was cancer. I don’t see people going after or attacking every network that said it was a drug overdose. I’ve openly stated my truths. I’m done.”

  1. So sad for all concerned….in this day and age…it is so easy and quick for us to ‘have and opinion’ without often considering the repercussions… 🙁
